President Trump has taken important steps to restore the recognition of biological reality in federal policy, but the fight to protect women’s rights is far from over.

Title IX was created to ensure equal opportunities for women, not erase the very distinctions that make those protections necessary. While the Trump administration has made significant progress in defending women’s spaces, sports, and opportunities, activists and institutions continue working to undermine those protections.

Protecting women’s rights, safety, and equal opportunities requires continued vigilance, advocacy, and action.

While important progress has been made in pushing back against gender ideology in education, activists and institutions continue working to embed these policies throughout our schools.

Independent Women will continue standing up for women, defending parental rights, and fighting to ensure that laws are enforced as written—not redefined through bureaucratic overreach.

Recent policy changes have helped restore common-sense protections for women and girls, but many of the harmful consequences of previous Title IX reinterpretations are still being challenged in courts, schools, and state policies across the country.

Those policies sought to require schools to treat students according to gender identity rather than biological sex, opening female spaces to male students who identified as girls. They also expanded definitions of harassment in ways that raised concerns about free speech and due process protections for students and educators.

The fight to fully restore and protect the original purpose of Title IX is not over, and Independent Women remains committed to defending the rights and opportunities of women and girls.

In 2021, Independent Women developed the “Take Back Title IX” campaign to restore Title IX in its original form. Since then, Independent Women has held “Take Back Title IX” rallies in Washington, DC [June 2022] and a national bus tour that visited 30 states in 30 days [June 2024], roundtables with U.S. Senate, testified before Congress, and drove over 20,000 comments in opposition to the Biden-Harris administration rule changes.
